Mantel Carriage Clocks

"The Past and the Present Merged in Mantel Carriage Clocks..."

Close your eyes and conjure an image of days long past; days when there were no garages, only carriage houses where well-to-do families kept their carriages, livery, and smart-stepping carriage horses.

.........Picture homes without electricity that were softly lit by gaslights and carriages equipped with portable lanterns and clocks.  Now these days are merged with modern timekeeping techniques in exquisite mantel carriage clocks.

Former carriage clocks, now Howard Miller mantel clocks and those by other makers, have a unique structure and beauty all their own.

With their metal handles on top, these clocks were once carried from place to place so the coachman wouldn't be remiss in transporting his aristocratic passengers on time to social events. Mantel carriage clocks will find a prominent place in your home; on your fireplace mantel, your bookshelves, or on your office desk.

Favorite Mantel Carriage Clocks

If you're looking for a lovely accessory for your own home or as a gift for someone special, a mantel carriage clock is just the thing. The Howard Miller Tara mantel clock is finished in beautiful Windsor Cherry with quartz battery-operated movement complete with pleasing Westminster chimes.

In contrast, the stunning and feminine Suzanne mantel carriage clock by Seth Thomas is a shining polished brass clock with ornate features and the top handle so characteristic of old-style carriage clocks.

A favorite for those "masculine" rooms is the Seiko Dark Brown Oak carriage clock; a solid oak case, glass crystal face and even an automatic night silencer so you won't be awakened by its chimes.  This is the perfect gift for the man in your life!

Also from Seiko is the lovely Cherry Wood carriage clock; its shiny cherry-finished wood, glass crystal face, automatic night silencer, and even a volume control for the chimes makes it a unique treasure.

Are all Mantel Carriage Clocks Made from Wood?

Not at all!  Like the Suzanne model mentioned above, many mantel carriage clocks are metal.

One Howard Miller Mantel Clock has a antique platinum finish arch top wrought iron mantel clock with pendulum.  It features a crackle finish with decorative top and corner accents.  The pendulum is finished in Antique Platinum to match the case.

Doesn't everyone love mantel carriage clocks?
